Alina - Harpist

Alina Bzhezhinska is an international harpist based in Edinburgh.  Her diverse repertoire encompasses classical, folk and jazz music. 

In 1995 Alina was awarded a Masters Degree in Arts from the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland and in 2002 gained her Masters Degree in Classical and Jazz Harp Performance from the University of Arizona in the United States. In 2001 she recorded a CD and DVD with American harp ensemble Harp Fusion. In 2005 Alina has started her own Record Label “Amadeus Records” and her new solo CD was released in April 2005 and has already been featured on Classic FM.

Alina now enjoys a successful solo career throughout the United Kingdom, giving regular public recitals in addition to freelance orchestral engagements. She provides the highest level of performance for weddings, functions and corporate events and has recently performed at the Scottish Parliament, the National Gallery of Scotland and Edinburgh Castle.

For wedding ceremonies, the music is carefully tailored to suit your individual wishes.  Alina has a comprehensive list of over 200 pieces of classical, light pop, jazz and folk music.  She can either perform on the concert pedal harp or the clarsach (lever harp).  Both pedal harp and clarsach are uniquely outfitted with electric pick-ups and can be appropriately amplified if required.

Alina also plays along with Margaret Preston who plays the flute.  Their performances have been greatly appreciated for their imaginative programming, featuring an electric mix of classical, Scottish and Worl Traditional music.  This duo is available for weddings, concerts and Burns Suppers.
