Rosie Morton is a young clarsach player and singer from Edinburgh. A finalist in this years Young Traditional Musician Of The Year, she studied Scottish Music at the RSAMD in Glasgow, where she enjoyed exploring the rich repertoire of her first instrument.
Her unique style of playing is mainly driven by pipe and fiddle tunes, occasionally delving into the historical repertoire of the clarsach or indulging her love of O’Carolans melodies.
Since graduating, Rosie divides her time between teaching and performing. She has had a wide range of experience, performing at wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions, dinners and corporate dinners. Her repertoire is Irish and Scottish traditional music (celtic), however, special requests for wedding receptions are welcome and can be considered with enough advance notice.
Rosie has also performed at various folk clubs and festivals, including the Edinburgh International Harp Festival, Glenfarg and Kilmarnock Folk Clubs and Celtic connections.
Rosie’s repertoire spins a wide variety of tunes and songs from traditional and historic to more modern pieces in the traditional idiom. Presently, Rosie plays a light strung Mark Norris Professional Harp in English Walnut.
