Wedding Music Trends in 2023

Wedding trends are always changing. More and more, we’re seeing that the way a wedding looks and feels becoming more unique to each couple. People are happier now to step away from tradition and create an atmosphere that feels uniquely theirs. This affects every aspect of the big day, particularly the music choices. 

So what are the latest trends we’re seeing couples flock to in 2023 and beyond?  We asked some of our fabulous entertainers for their insight. Whilst the Hireaband team chat with couples every day, organising every detail of the entertainment, our musicians know exactly what takes place on the night (and what dodgy dance moves are being shown off). So let’s hear what some of Scotland’s biggest bands had to say…

 

The Renegades and The Shakers both confirmed that saxophone is HUGE at the moment. Whether it’s adding a depth and flair to a band’s set or getting down onto the dancefloor to some Ibiza party classics like Jubel, saxophone is becoming a staple at weddings. KC & the Nightshift note that “we’re experiencing a 90s music renaissance!” All 3 bands feature outstanding sax players in their line-up. 

When it comes to song choices some classics aren’t going anywhere. “Mr Brightside is the theme song to the British wedding” say the boys from Chart Society. In fact, nearly all of our bands mentioned The Killers hit when asked about dancefloor fillers. However, more recently Dua Lipa, Lizzo and Harry Styles tunes are requested at nearly every reception! The Trueloves and KC & the Nightshift both added Gerry Cinnamon songs to their set list recently after hundreds of requests. 

All in all, the consensus from our bands was that music is only becoming a more important part of the big day. It says so much about a couple, not only that but it’s the last thing guests remember from the day (even if some of the memories are a bit hazy in the morning). Couples are picking first dance songs outside the norm, songs that are special to them and their partnership. Touches like this make such an impact, creating a truly special moment just for you.
