Jewish Wedding & Event Bands in Durham

Hire a Jewish event band in Durham

The right band makes a simcha. Acts across Durham combine traditional Jewish and Israeli repertoire, klezmer and the hora with a full party set, and they're booked for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, engagement parties and community events.

Whether your celebration is near Durham, Barnard Castle and Sedgefield or elsewhere in Durham, the acts on this page cover the whole area. Local venues include South Causey Inn, Bradbury Glade and Lumley Castle. It's worth sharing the venue's layout early so the band can plan where the hora circle will go.

Not every band plays a simcha the same way. Some lead a long, high-energy hora set with Israeli favourites, some add a klezmer or acoustic set for the ceremony or reception, and all of them follow up with a party set for the rest of the night.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every Jewish event band here travels to Durham as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £1,500 for a smaller band to £4,000 or more for a large showband, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Hora and Israeli dance sets, klezmer and a full party set
  • Ceremony, reception and evening music available
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

For 150 guests or more, a seven to ten-piece showband gives the room the energy it needs. For smaller celebrations, a five or six-piece works well. Tell us the venue, the guest numbers and the running order and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Expect to pay from around £1,500 for a smaller band up to £4,000 or more for a large showband. Line-up size matters most, then the date and extras such as a klezmer set or reception music. Every quote includes travel, so nothing is added later.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

Yes. Every band in this category plays a hora and Israeli dance set, including Hava Nagila and other favourites, and will agree the songs and timing with you before the day.

Many can. Some bands offer an acoustic or klezmer set for the ceremony or drinks reception before the main evening set. Mention it when you enquire and we'll include it in the quote.

Yes. Bands bring their own PA and lighting. Larger showbands need a good-sized stage area and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £1,500 for a smaller band to £4,000 or more for a large showband. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the evening make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Yes. Bands experienced with simchas are used to fitting their sets around courses, speeches and the chair lift. They'll agree a running order with you and your caterer or planner in advance.

For weekend weddings and bar mitzvahs, a year or more ahead is common, as the most popular bands book up early. For other dates, a few months' notice is often enough.

“City Boys were simply the best! Their performance was excellent, they were so friendly and they filled the dancefloor every time they walked on stage. A thoroughly professional act that I would recommend for any event - wedding, corporate or party. This is the first review I have ever written (I'm lazy!) and I'm writing it because I genuinely can't praise them enough! 100% recommend!”

“I wanted to say a special and heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to you and the members of your band for providing a wonderful centre-piece for my special birthday celebration. You were all great and added to the fun and joy of the party. I thought you were excellent at everything you played and, most importantly, very easy to dance to! Thank you all so much. You have helped to create a wonderful memory that will be with me forever. With warmest good wishes from Elizabeth”

Both myself & Gemma would like to personally thank you and the band for your performance at our wedding reception. All the guests, family and staff commented on how good you all were. Monte Carlo you were great!”

“We just wanted to say a huge thank you – you were extremely professional, ringing prior to the event to check a few details, setting up quickly and quietly on the day. Your performance was brilliant and had everyone up dancing. We loved the range of music, especially our chosen first dance.”
