Roaming Bands in the East Midlands

Roaming bands across the East Midlands

Whether you're planning a wedding or event in a city-centre hotel or a country house miles from anywhere, roaming bands in the East Midlands cover the whole region. This page brings together acts that play everywhere from Grantham, Northampton, Leicester, Chesterfield and Nottingham, so you can compare them side by side.

Our listings for the East Midlands take in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. Each of those areas has its own page too, which you'll find in the links further down, but the acts here will travel to any of them.

Venues across the East Midlands that our acts know well include Belvoir Castle and Dodmoor House, Willow Marsh Farm and Callow Hall, and Inkersall Grange Farm and Stubton Hall. Every venue has its own space, power supply and finish time, and we'll check those with the act for you.

Across the East Midlands you can choose from acoustic roaming duos and trios, swing and jazz groups and walkabout brass bands that move around the room playing to small groups of guests. Most will take a few requests ahead of the day, and many can learn a special song if you ask.

Hireaband has been booking live entertainment since 1999. Every band listed here covers the East Midlands, and travel is included in the quote you receive. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

At a glance:

  • Most roaming bands cost between £800 and £2,500
  • Travel is included in the price you're quoted
  • One page covering every area of the East Midlands
  • Popular acts book up early for busy dates, so enquire soon
  • A 14-day change-of-mind refund comes with every booking

Start with the space and the guest numbers. A smaller line-up suits an intimate room or a venue with a sound limiter, while a larger act fills a ballroom or marquee. Tell us the venue and numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Most bookings fall between £800 and £2,500. The size of the line-up is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long the act plays. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay, wherever you are in the East Midlands.

Each act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how an act works a room than any description can.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen an act, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“I hired The Roaming Romantics to play at my wedding last year - They were amazing and got everyone (which was a fairly international crowd) on the dancefloor in no time! We picked our songs and they came up with the rest. They were also really friendly and smiley with all of our guests - I highly recommend these guys.”

“Tommy & Sons performed at our wedding on the hottest day of the year (38 degrees!). They were professional throughout and so friendly. Due to the heat, most people were outside so were missing all the music, but the band happily set up outside instead and it turned the atmosphere into a much more relaxed, live music vibe rather than a wedding party, which was just what we were aiming for! The music was fantastic and we would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting live music at their event!”

“Everyone loved the band and the music they played. Would definitely use them again!”
